The treatment

What is shockwave therapy?

Shockwave therapy delivers acoustic waves to a targeted area through a handheld device. At North West Osteopathy Clinic, we use the EMS DolorClast radial shockwave system.

It may be considered alongside your treatment and rehabilitation plan. Your practitioner will assess your condition and discuss whether it is appropriate for you.

What happens during treatment?

Gel is applied to the skin, then the handheld applicator is moved over the treatment area with light pressure to deliver the shockwaves.

Could it suit you?

Support for tendons
and soft tissue.

Conditions your practitioner may consider for shockwave therapy include:

  • Plantar fasciopathy & heel spurs
  • Achilles, patellar & hamstring tendinopathy
  • Tennis elbow & golfer’s elbow
  • Rotator cuff tendinopathy
  • Lateral hip pain Gluteal tendinopathy / bursitis
  • Shin splints / Osgood-Schlatter disease

Your practitioner will conduct a thorough assessment to determine whether shockwave therapy is an appropriate treatment option for your condition.
