Patient information
Consent & cancellations
Clear information about your treatment choices and changing an appointment.
Informed consent
Your osteopath will discuss the proposed assessment and treatment, expected benefits, material risks and reasonable alternatives, including choosing not to proceed. You are encouraged to ask questions and discuss any concerns before making a decision.
Consent is an ongoing conversation. You may decline a technique, ask to pause or stop treatment, or withdraw consent at any time. Please tell your osteopath about any discomfort during treatment.
Discomfort and possible after-effects
Although many osteopathic techniques are gentle, some may cause discomfort during treatment or soreness for up to 48–72 hours afterwards. Temporary effects can include increased pain or symptoms, fatigue, headaches, tenderness or bruising.
Risks vary with the technique and your individual circumstances. Your osteopath will explain relevant risks, including any less common but serious risks, before seeking your consent. This general information does not replace that discussion or constitute consent to treatment.
If you have concerns after treatment, contact the clinic. Seek urgent medical attention for severe or unexpected symptoms.
Cancellation policy
Please provide at least 12 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient. A $50 cancellation fee may apply if you cancel or reschedule with less than 12 hours’ notice. Extenuating circumstances will be considered.
To change your appointment, contact the clinic as soon as possible on nwosteopathyclinic@gmail.com or 0488 776 847.
